| Comments: | Was sent to Morocco as a young Marine in 1959 and was stationed at Bouknadel for 19 months. Returned in Nov 1965 and spent another 2 years at the MB,NS Kenitra. Had some really good times and met some very nice people. I can recall in 1966 my wife and I were invited to a Moraccan's home for dinner. Their home was a camel and goat skin tent. We had a true feast and to this day I can not figure how the fatima was able to cook couscous,vegetables, chicken, and bake bread. It was a real enjoyable time. |

| Comments: | ADR-3, was assigned to the hangar. There was introduced to aircraft BUNO 137922, A UF-2. SAR aircraft duty, which linked with the Azores, and Whellus AFB. Only five aircrft and approximately 70 personnel assigned to the operations division for maintaining these aircraft. Many interesting times flying into Sidi Silmane, Ben Gurior,(sp) Nauasseur AFB's. Very good duty station, very good personnel. Have managed to contact 14 of the personnel that was there during this time period. Have solicted them for there joining the MRA, and making the Raieigh 2009 reunion. I will be there. |

| Comments: | At barely 20 years old, I arrive at Nouasseur AFB in October 1959 and was bussed to Sidi Slimane for a 12 month tour-of-duty. As the bus left he Base and we entered the world that was Morocco, I thought I had been transported back in time 2000 years! As a Medic with the 3906th Medical Group, I had a lot of great experiences in Morocco and did a lot of "growing up". I met a young military dependant there that, 44 years later is now my finace'! I am the host for the 2009 MRA Reunion in Raleigh NC. I want to see you all there! I am also wanting to do a Memory Book. I want everyone to submit their memories of Morocco to me as if you were writing a letter back home. I will edit them and have them available at the Reunion. I will only be the editor. Your information will be your chapter. More details will appear in the Newsleter. |

| Comments: | I wonder how many are still alive who made the voyage to Morocco on the troop ship via Germany as an Air Base Group to open Sidi slamaine in l951. We were about one year early. There was no base perimeter, no runways and no buildings. There was a few "Dallas: huts to live in and we had our own food service squadron so we had food and a place to sleep. I soon found my way to Rabot and worked for a Col Long in the 5th Air Division. Life was good there as we drew perdieum and lived in great French Hotels with great French meals furnished.I was there from l951 to the end of l953 |
