SATURDAY DAYTIME EVENTS - ROYAL GORGE RAILWAY
Since it was a 420 foot climb for the train coming up to Parkdale we will practically coast back to Canon City 12 miles down the gorge.
Some rapids
Here's some rafters now!
Serious Class V rafting here.
"Getting Away From It All" Some campers on the side of the tracks. We hope they don't walk in their sleep.
The suspension bridge is left behind as we head back down the grade.
The Hunter's depart the train with the rest of us.
One raft captain stands guard up stream while another shoots the rapids.
Remains of the old wooden weaterline built 1908-1910 and used until the 1950s. During the winter, sawdust was poured into the waterline to help seal leaks between the redwood staves.
That's about Class IV we think.
Looks like Class V.
We wave and they wave back. Send us your pics and we'll send you ours. LOL
Fellow travelers want to join our train but alas we don't stop here.
