GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
The General Membership Meeting is designed as a true "town meeting" wherein each member has an opportunity to express his/her views on the management of the Association and to assist in the nomination and election of members of the expiring Board of Directors Class. In this case the class of 2007 was up for re-election.
The GMM is normally held at 0830.
...and that means it's an early meeting.
Did anyone think to bring coffee? No, just water back there.
The President, LM55 Tom Bennett, gives an introduction and presents the financial report in the absence of the Secretary/Treasurer who is ill. The President reads a list of 45 names of members who have passed away since the St Louis reunion and calls for a moment of silence. He then asks for the Chairman of the Nominating Committee, LM321 Norm Vine, to give his report. Four names are placed in nomination and the move is made to close the nominations.
Call for a vote!
The membership unanimously elects the following four nominees to the Class of 2013 on the MRA BOD: LM434 David Ward Jones, LM 447 Don Kearney, LM117 Kay Rivenbark (her 2nd election to the board), and LM164 William Hughes. The President thanks the members who are present and leaving the BOD: LM152 Don Gwaltney and LM83 Bernie Williamson. The Vice President LM301 Bob Sieborg calls for a round of applause for the Bennetts, the Babinskys and the Williamsons for hosting the Clearwater, Tacoma and St Louis successful reunions.
The members gather. Anticipation fills the air. What will the BOD look like for the next three years? Have I been nominated, I wonder?
The current Board of Directors and a guest speaker (LM434 David Ward Jones) take their places on the head table. [Mr Jones will make a presentation of the benefits of having the 2009 reunion in Raleigh NC.]
The President entertains questions and comments from the membership assembled. He announces that the new BOD will elect officers for the next two years and will consider the location of the 2009 reunion at their meeting this afternoon which will be announced at the banquet this evening and the meeting is adjourned.
